Personal Time Management

Managing time wisely is one of the hardest things to do in our personal life. If we spend all day at the office we tend to resent having to schedule our personal time as if we were in business.
Resource Management

But that's exactly the skill we need to cultivate if we are to make the most of our personal time. Personal time should be spent doing what we really love to do, but how many of us spend it catching up on chores or creating new responsibilities for ourselves rather than just doing what makes us happy?

This article is not about managing your personal time effectively so that you can accomplish more, it's about scheduling in some time for some fun.

Your Free Time

What do you like to do on your day off? Not take a class, I hope, unless it's a cooking course or guitar school were something of a high level of interest to you. Would like to spend it with your family, sleeping (there is no shame in that) or just fooling around? Well then here is how to manage your time better so that you can use what little time you have to yourself by really using it to yourself.

One problem with time management is the “waste” of time. Sometimes it may seem as if friends effectively plan to stop by and visit during the busiest times of the day. And we always welcome the break, don't we? It seems as is it is the perfect excuse for putting off that long assignment or the report that we just do not want to do.

A good strategy for friends visiting at work were while you're working is to plan to take a break at a given time each day, and tell your friends that they are welcome to show up during that time. This only works, however, if your company allows that sort of thing or you have the self-discipline to stick to what you have allocated. Think of this as training to get your work done and scheduled in such a way so that you can have personal time, time when hanging out with friends is actually fun, not a hurried break or distraction before getting back to work.

In Order of Importance

If you are a student, schedule your homework so that you can get it done as soon as you get home from school. If you are going to a party and attendance is crucial, finish the harder work before you get ready to go out, that way you can have fun without worrying if you'll be in the mood to complete the assignments over the weekend. This is a technique most students learn in college. If you're still in high school and you learn to do this, you'll be way ahead of the game with this tool. Another tip is to make a to-do list every day, and be sure to use "extra" time wisely. If you ride the bus home from school, there is an extra 15-30 minutes to do your homework! If you get good sleep each night (this can be one of the first things to get shortchanged and should really be the last) you will automatically manage your time better because you will be able to think more clearly.

I will be elaborating on this topic more as it is a subject, which has substantial impact on everyone's lives and simply cannot be covered in one article.
